The Food Pantry intern works directly with clients and volunteers during the holiday months to help oversee the Thanksgiving meal and holiday gift programs which help thousands of families in need.
Interfaith is a nonreligious multiservice center for families and individuals in need. Since 1947 Interfaith has endeavored to strengthen family life and offer assistance to residents of Massachusetts’ South Shore region by feeding, clothing and comforting our impoverished neighbors.
The Food Pantry intern must be an individual with exceptional organizational ability and a strong desire to serve those in need. The fall season is the busiest time of the year for many nonprofit organizations. Each year our food pantry assists thousands of families through the Thanksgiving Meal and Adopt-a-family programs. The Food Pantry intern works directly with the Pantry Manager to oversee client intake, coordination with donors, program promotion, liaison with community contacts, volunteer management and overall distribution of services. The applicant must feel extremely comfortable speaking on the phone and one on one with clients, donors and business contacts.
Time commitment: 10 hours a week from September through December 2012. This position reports directly to the Food Pantry manager.

Development and Communications Intern

The Development and Communications Intern works directly with the Development Coordinator, Executive Director and periodically with other department managers as needed.
Interfaith is a nonreligious multiservice center for families and individuals in need. Since 1947 Interfaith has endeavored to strengthen family life and offer assistance to residents of Massachusetts’ South Shore region by feeding, clothing and comforting our impoverished neighbors.
The intern must be able to work face-to-face with clients and volunteers while maintaining a sociable and open-minded attitude to all situations. Projects range from updating customer contact information and mailings, administrating social networking websites, conducting interviews, making cold calls to potential sponsors and donors as well as many other tasks all requiring a high level of organization and attention to detail.
The intern must be organized, punctual and able to adapt to different projects and requests. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge and understanding of business management, marketing and computer skills i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Lastly, the intern must be open-minded, creative and receptive to the different projects and requests made by the organization all while maintaining respect for those who benefit from Interfaith Social Services’ programs.
Time commitment:
